Important Information for Morning Drop-Off

All students and staff need to be in their classrooms promptly at 8:00 AM. Morning car riders should be dropped off by 7:55 AM in order for them to make it to class on time. Likewise, morning greeters (staff unloading cars) will be heading to their classes at 7:55 AM. Any car rider not unloaded by 7:55 AM will need to park and sign-in at the front office. To avoid getting stuck in a line at 7:55 AM, come early! Doors open at 7:00 AM.

After School Program Application

Download and print the forms, and bring them filled out completely during open house. We will also have applications available during open house. Please note, you must pre-pay for ASP for your child to be able to stay.

APTT #2

As you know, we have been implementing Academic Parent-Teacher Teams (APTT), a model for developing parent-teacher partnerships to better support students’ learning for the past three years. Our first experience was overwhelming - in a positive way. We had parents lined up out the door and around the building anxiously waiting to get in. We received positive feedback from parents that were excited about having an opportunity to take part in what is happening in their child’s classroom. Parents and teachers partnered together to set learning goals and discuss how to encourage and support student learning goals at home. 2020-2021 has offered its own set of obstacles that we have overcome through virtual meetings. Our first virtual APTT meeting back in the fall was a success!

We have listened to your feedback and are excited about our next APTT meeting on January 28th where we will measure progress and celebrate student growth toward goal attainment. We hope you can join us!

S.T.E.M. Club Application

Thanks for your interest in STEM Club! Do you love science and math? Want to learn computer language and play with robots? Would you like to learn to make movies? Do you like to create, invent and investigate? Then STEM Club is for you!

The Bartow County School System STEM Program is designed to enrich student learning in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Our club will meet on TUESDAY AFTERNOONS, after school until 4:00. We will offer two 10 week sessions: one in the Fall and another in the Spring. You may sign up for the session that best fits your schedule. Please check your calendar and make sure that you do not have a prior commitment before you complete the application, so you can maximize your experience you need to be at every club meeting.

The application must be submitted by Friday, September 11, 2020, at 3:00 PM. Applications and applicants are accepted in the order they are received. Each STEM Club Session has room for 20 members. If your preferred session has filled up, you maybe placed in the next session, and will be contacted by an HCES staff member prior to that move.

Grades 3-5 may apply.

If you have more than one student that is wanting to participation, you must complete an application for each child.

First Day Information

Due to COVID-19 concerns, the procedure to walk your child to class on the first day of school has been modified this academic year. Pre-K and kindergarten parents/guardians only may walk their child to class (but not into class) on the first day of school. However, those parents/guardians will be required to complete a temperature check and short COVID-19 questionnaire at the front office prior to admittance. Please plan accordingly and allow ample time, as many parents/guardians may utilize this opportunity August 5, 2020. After the first day of school, children may not be walked to class. Extra staff will be on hand to assist younger children to their classrooms during the first weeks of school.

Please understand we are limiting adult access to Bartow County schools out of an abundance of caution, as we work together to create the safest learning environment for our students and staff.

We sincerely apologize that unlimited access to our schools cannot be granted this year. We understand the importance of transitioning your child to a new class, teacher, or school, and we hope that you will take advantage of our Open House on August 3. There, you will be able to see your child’s classroom and speak to your child’s teacher. If you are unable to attend in-person, a virtual Open House will be provided prior to the start of the school year.

Open House Information

Open house will take place on Monday, August 3, 2020.

The schedule will be based on last names:
10:30-12:00: Last names beginning with A-M
2:30-4:00: Last names beginning with N-Z

6:00-7:00: For all students whose parents have work schedule conflicts.

*No one will be allowed in between 12:00 and 2:30 so we can clean and sanitize the building for the next group.

Open House Rules:
*No more than 2 adults per family.
*Only HCES students should attend.
*Short visits in the classroom to meet the teacher (5-10 minutes).
*Visit only your current teachers.

If preferred, a virtual Open House will be available on August 2, on the HCES Facebook page and website.
